CIF Championships on the FX-7
Today I headed up to Mt. Sac with my school’s swim team to shoot the CIF championships on the Sony FX-7. I would have used one of the EX3’s because this shoot was contracted by my production company but we were using them for another shoot and I got left with the FX-7. There were some bonuses to bringing this instead of an EX3. It was pretty small so when I tried to do some creative shots like dutch rolls and leaning over the side of the pool it was a lot lighter and easier to handle. It doesn’t have any XLR ports on it so I just used my small Adzen Mic. Its cheap, but it does the trick. One thing I noticed when I was setting it up last night, this camera is perfectly balanced! Even when i had all of my gear on it the center of gravity was right at the tripod screw. It was a fun day but its the first time I’ve shot on tape in a long time (I forgot how fast they pile up.). Well, I have a nice long night of importing ahead of me.
